The U.S. decision to establish in Poland the first service center in Europe for PAC-3 missiles used in Patriot systems is the result of President Karol Nawrocki’s efforts and cooperation with the Ministry of National Defense, presidential minister Marcin Przydacz told PAP, the Polish Press Agency.
Deputy Defense Minister Magdalena Sobkowiak-Czarnecka announced Tuesday on X that a service center for PAC-3 missiles for Patriot systems will be built in Poland. She stressed that it is a “historic decision.” She added that Poland competed with Germany, the Netherlands and Norway for the location of the investment.
The head of the president’s International Policy Bureau stressed in an interview with PAP that the U.S. decision is the result of President Karol Nawrocki’s efforts and cooperation with the Ministry of National Defense.
“The president has been involved in this process from the very beginning. That was the purpose of the president’s visit to the United States this spring and his talks with representatives of Lockheed Martin,” Przydacz said.
He added that during meetings with representatives of the American manufacturer, the president learned that Poland was the preferred location for economic reasons, but that the final decision would be political and would rest with U.S. President Donald Trump.
Przydacz stressed that Karol Nawrocki began talks directly with President Trump during a meeting in New York, arguing for the choice of Poland. According to the minister, the U.S. president assured him at the time that the decision would be favorable for Poland.
“I am glad today that the service center for PAC-3 missiles, that is, for the Patriots, the first in Europe, will be built in Poland,” the presidential minister said.
He stressed that cooperation between the Chancellery of the President and the Ministry of National Defense, including his talks with the deputy minister, Magdalena Sobkowiak-Czarnecka, also contributed to the positive outcome.
