The Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in New York invites the Polish-American community to celebrate Poland’s National Independence Day. The event will take place Thursday, Nov. 12, at the consulate on Madison Avenue. Registration is required and closes Nov. 5.

The program is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m., and doors will open half an hour earlier. The celebration will be held at the consulate at 233 Madison Avenue in Manhattan, at a spot known as Jan Karski Corner.

The program includes the presentation of state decorations, awards for winners of this year’s “Outstanding Pole in the USA” (“Wybitny Polak w USA”) competition, and artistic performances.

Registration is online. A link to the form is in the consulate’s announcement on the gov.pl portal. The consulate did not provide information about fees or additional conditions for attending; the only requirement is signing up in advance.

National Independence Day commemorates Poland’s regaining of independence in 1918. In the United States, it is observed by consulates, Polish-American organizations and parishes. In many places, celebrations take place in the days before and after Nov. 11.
