An 8% VAT rate on all solid fuels and a 5% VAT rate on electricity and heat are the core of a bill prepared by the Law and Justice party (PiS).
PiS Vice President Przemysław Czarnek had announced a presentation of the bill at Saturday’s expert conference, “The Most Expensive Winter in History Is Coming.” On Monday, at a press conference, the politician provided details of the bill.
“We are proposing a VAT rate of 8% on all solid fuels: on coal, on briquettes, on pellets,” Czarnek said. In his view, this will make “coal cheaper; as will briquettes, which will be cheaper by PLN 250 to PLN 300 per ton.”
Another proposal in the bill is a 5% VAT rate on electricity and heat. According to the politician, this would save an average family up to PLN 70 a month in its budget.
“This is the Cheap Heating 1.0 package, which needs to be put into effect immediately (…) to calm the situation in Polish families, and also among microentrepreneurs,” Czarnek stressed. (PAP)
