Chicago ranks fifth among the best cities for celebrating Halloween in 2026, according to a ranking published by WalletHub. New York is first, followed by Los Angeles in second, Jersey City in third and Las Vegas in fourth. Memphis came in last.
To determine the best city for Halloween, WalletHub compared the 100 largest cities in the U.S. across 20 key indicators. Among the factors considered were the number of costume shops per capita, the crime rate and the share of locations where children can expect to get candy while trick-or-treating.
It is worth noting that Chicago is also among the top five cities with the most candy stores per capita.
