On Saturday’s edition of “Kalejdoskop Wydarzeń” (“Kaleidoscope of Events”), broadcast on the Polsat network, Dorota Gawryluk and Jan Wróbel discussed the events of the evening and night outside the Constitutional Tribunal, Poland’s top constitutional court. Gawryluk recalled what she had said in an earlier edition of the program: that “Donald Tusk has lost his political intuition and his ear for the public mood.”
“After what happened yesterday, I have the impression that Prime Minister Donald Tusk has also lost the last remnants of common sense, and probably the last remnants of decency, if politicians have any decency at all,” Gawryluk said. In her opinion, the images that went out to the world yesterday “cannot be explained or justified by anything.”
She asked Wróbel “what the prime minister could have been thinking, restoring the rule of law in this way, with the help of police officers and by using such absolutely unlawful methods.” Wróbel replied that he “was on the scene, but he is not going to defend Donald Tusk.”
“You assume that the aim of these actions is to restore the rule of law. Nothing really points to that. Donald Tusk wrote that after years of PiS lawlessness, there will be our lawlessness. Which lawlessness are you for?” Wróbel shot back, referring to the prime minister’s post. PiS is the Law and Justice party.
Gawryluk also said she “does not want people who use physical violence, use the police, and try to twist their way into justifying it with legal provisions.” She also pointed to “the pitiful judge Anna Korwin-Piotrowska,” who in her view was put on the front line. Gawryluk called her actions “an absolute embarrassment” and described her as “an absolutely weak point.”
“At the start, she announced publicly that she did not want to see the president (…), so she even outdid Mr. Włodzimierz Czarzasty,” Gawryluk said.
“She got a phone call saying she had made a mistake, because that information was already spreading and generally everyone was laughing at the judge,” she added, noting that Korwin-Piotrowska “has the temperament of a politician, but a weak one, because a violent one.”
