Trump Orders Investigation Into ‘Threats’ to Hold His Associates Accountable

Must read

U.S. President Donald Trump said Saturday that he had directed prosecutors to look into statements by Democratic politicians about future congressional investigations. Trump characterized the vows of accountability as intimidation and “threats” against his allies.

“Democrats are threatening many people, including the Attorney General of the United States and others, with impeachment and many other forms of punishment, even though they admit they have no grounds for it,” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social.

The alleged threats, the president said, amount to “extortion at the highest level” aimed at donors, officials and supporters of the president.

“I am ordering the Department of Justice to immediately investigate this crime!” – he stressed. In a subsequent post, he repeated that what the Democrats are doing is “totally” illegal. The president did not name specific cases of “threats” or “extortion,” but he mentioned a statement by Democratic Sen. Elissa Slotkin, who in October, during a meeting with students, spoke of congressional investigations into people associated with Trump who “enabled his corruption.” Slotkin argued that this would send a deterrent signal to young people who might want to work for the Trump administration.

Since the elections won by the Democrats, party politicians have announced that they will hold Trump and his associates accountable, citing, among other things, cases of corruption, politically motivated actions by prosecutors, and abuses of power by, among others, Elon Musk’s DOGE team and immigration services.
