Shares of President Donald Trump’s media company, Trump Media & Technology Group, which owns the Truth Social platform, fell Wednesday to their lowest level since the company’s stock market debut, following U.S. elections won by Democrats, The Washington Post reports.
Although most stocks began rising at the open on Wall Street, Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG) lost 13% during that time. Over the course of 2026, the value of its shares has fallen 60%.
At its current valuation, the company’s shares are worth $600 million. In 2024, that figure was nearly $4 billion. When TMTG went public in 2021, investors paid $175 per share. On Wednesday, the price was $5.10.
In August, TMTG began selling companies and investors the fastest access to posts from the platform’s most popular users, including the president and Vice President J.D. Vance.
The paid Truth API feed delivers posts from the 10 most influential accounts to customers much faster than standard push notifications on Truth Social. Trump posts information there about decisions he has made, which very often affect markets and stock prices.
On Aug. 12, the Freedom of the Press Foundation and The Intercept magazine filed a federal complaint over the Truth API service, and in September the city of San Francisco filed another.
The filings accuse the Truth API feed of corrupt practices, unfair competition and violating the ban on insider trading, or the use of nonpublic information in stock trading. (PAP)
