Michigan Gas Prices Jump 32 Cents to $4.81 a Gallon

Must read

Gas prices in Michigan are climbing again. According to AAA, the statewide average is $4.81 a gallon, up 32 cents from a week ago.

Compared with a year ago, a gallon costs about $1.75 more. Filling up 15 gallons now costs about $72. Prices are still about 6 cents lower than a month ago, however.

Prices are highest in metro Detroit, where the average in Wayne County is $4.88, and some stations, such as the one at Ten Mile and Greenfield in Oak Park, are charging as much as $4.99. The cheapest gas is in the Marquette area of the Upper Peninsula, at $4.62.

The increases are driven mainly by the conflict in the Middle East. Drivers are trying to save money by combining errands into a single trip, driving more slowly and not leaving their engines running while parked.
