FBI agents entered a luxury mansion in Beverly Hills, California, on Tuesday. According to media sources, the search involved Eric Swalwell, a Democrat and former candidate for governor of the Golden State, who had previously used a property owned by one of his former donors.

Agents arrived Tuesday morning at the residence on Roxbury Drive, near Benedict Canyon Drive. FBI spokeswoman Lourdes Arocho confirmed that the operation took place but declined to provide details.

“Early this morning, the FBI conducted activity in the Los Angeles area related to an ongoing criminal investigation. We have no further comment,” the agency said in a statement. Documents related to the search remain sealed. It was also not disclosed whether agents seized any items or evidence.

According to ABC News, the property that was searched belongs to Stephen Cloobeck, a billionaire and businessman who previously supported Swalwell’s political activities. The former congressman does not currently live in the house, but according to people familiar with the matter, he stayed there for a period of time. Cloobeck was among the donors who supported the Democratic politician’s election campaigns.

In the spring of 2026, the billionaire publicly announced that he had cut ties with Swalwell after allegations of alleged sexual misconduct came to light.

The search is the latest step in the federal investigation involving Swalwell. In August, FBI agents seized his phone and other electronic devices at the San Francisco airport. The next day, they also searched his home in Washington.

In April, Swalwell resigned his seat in Congress and withdrew from the race for governor of California.

The politician denies the allegations of sexual assault.
