Paid Parking in Bydgoszcz’s Leśne Neighborhood? Public Consultations Begin

Must read

Public consultations on a paid parking zone in the Leśne neighborhood began in Bydgoszcz on Tuesday, Oct. 27. They will run until Nov. 27.

The initiative came from the Leśne Neighborhood Council. Its chairman, Kornel Kopczyk, wrote to City Council Chair Monika Matowska about the matter. According to the neighborhood council, residents have long had trouble finding a parking space near their homes, both during the day and in the evening.

Any Bydgoszcz resident may weigh in, but residents of the neighborhood take priority. The consultations are based on an online survey. Questions cover, among other things, the number of cars per household, the hours when spaces are hard to find, and the reasons for the shortage, such as parking by commuters using the Bydgoszcz Leśna railway station.

According to preliminary calculations, an hour of parking would cost about PLN 3.80 in Zone A and about PLN 2.60 in Zone B. A resident permit would cost PLN 75 or PLN 50 per month, and the penalty fee for parking without a ticket would be PLN 250.

Parking in the zone would be allowed only in designated spaces, which would require changes to traffic organization. The city has yet to announce the dates of consultation office hours.
