Crowds Flock to Beacon Hill’s “Butterfly House” for Halloween

Must read

Halloween decorations in Boston’s Beacon Hill neighborhood are once again drawing crowds. The biggest attraction is the “Butterfly House” on Mt. Vernon Street.

The townhouse facade is decked out with giant monarch butterflies, flowers spilling from window boxes and skeletons arranged into a spooky story. The idea for a “haunted butterfly garden” came from the homeowner, Mary DiLeo. It was carried out by Parterre Garden Services, a landscaping company based in Billerica. A five-person crew worked about 85 hours.

“Beacon Hill has always been known for its Halloween decorations,” says Vanessa Tropeano, the company’s creative director. “It’s wonderful to see people from all over Massachusetts and from out of state coming here for Halloween,” adds Mary DiLeo.

A walk through Beacon Hill is a good idea for a family afternoon before October 31.
