President Donald Trump is scheduled to appear Friday, Nov. 6, at Kennedy Space Center in Florida. He is expected to speak in the evening as part of the Up.Summit technology summit.
According to organizers, the speech is set for about 5:30 p.m. The White House, cited by NBC News, gave an approximate time of 6 p.m. Eastern. Up.Summit is a closed summit devoted to aviation and space technology. About 400 invited investors and business representatives are attending, and the president is expected to address them.
The summit runs Thursday and Friday. Friday is a VIP event that also draws government representatives from various countries. Guests are greeted by the first stage of a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket and the upper stage of a Blue Origin New Glenn rocket. On Thursday, the program included a demonstration flight of Electra’s EL9 hybrid-electric aircraft.
Up.Summit is part of NASA’s Max Power weekend, which includes air shows. The shows and the summit’s exhibition area are located at the former space shuttle landing strip. Tickets for the shows are limited, and sales of Up.Summit passes end Friday. The Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex is about 5 miles (about 8 km) south of the show site. Admission tickets to the complex are still available. The program includes a daily parade with astronauts in Corvettes and a marching band.
It is the president’s first public appearance since Tuesday’s midterm elections. A week earlier, Trump was at a rally in Daytona Beach. On Tuesday, he signed a space proclamation. The document mentions the Artemis III mission, which is to begin a campaign of test flights next year, and a return to the Moon by 2028.
A Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) notice on flight restrictions indicates that after the Space Coast visit, the president may travel to the Mar-a-Lago club in Palm Beach. Residents of the Cape Canaveral area should expect disruptions related to the visit.
