Zelenskyy Says He Hopes for Ukraine-U.S.-Russia Meeting in Early November

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed on Monday that he hopes a trilateral meeting on peace talks between representatives of Ukraine, the U.S. and Russia will take place in early November.

“We hope that the trilateral meeting of the American, Ukrainian and Russian teams will take place as early as the beginning of November,” he wrote on social media after talks with Juozas Olekas, the speaker of Lithuania’s Seimas, who is visiting Kyiv.

Earlier, the news outlet Ukrainska Pravda reported that Ukraine and the United States are trying to persuade Russia to hold a new round of trilateral talks at least a week earlier than originally planned.

According to the outlet, Russia initially proposed holding the meeting in the second 10 days of November. The meeting is to take place in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates. Kyiv is pushing for an earlier date because of the approaching winter and the risk of power, water and heating outages caused by Russian attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure. (PAP)
