Clocks Fall Back This Weekend in the U.S., Giving Us an Extra Hour of Sleep

Must read

Overnight from Saturday to Sunday, the U.S. will switch from daylight saving time to standard time. That means we will sleep an hour longer.

Clocks are set back from 3 to 2. It is worth noting that the first seasonal time change in the United States took place in 1918, but it has been used regularly only since 1940.

There are a few reasons for the switch from daylight saving time to standard time. The one experts cite most often is economic: it helps us make better use of sunlight and, importantly, also saves electricity. According to psychologists, it also affects our well-being. Because it gets dark earlier in the day, we try to make the most of the few hours when the sun is out, our physical activity increases, and in the evening we go to bed sooner or spend more time at home with our loved ones.

There are many opponents and supporters of the time change, but one thing is certain… from Saturday to Sunday, we sleep an hour longer!
