Florida Gas Prices Average $4.09 a Gallon

Florida drivers are paying an average of $4.09 a gallon for regular gasoline on Monday. That is nearly the same as a week ago but about $1.17 more than a year ago, according to AAA data.

The average fell by just under 2 cents over the past day, from $4.11. A week ago it was $4.08, and a month ago it was $4.40, so prices have dropped noticeably over the month. A year ago, a gallon cost about $2.92.

Fuel is most expensive in the West Palm Beach–Boca Raton area (an average of $4.25) and cheapest in Pensacola ($3.73). By county, according to NBC6, residents of Monroe (the Keys) pay the most, about $4.38, and those in Escambia County pay the least, about $3.67.

Diesel is also expensive, averaging $6.14 a gallon, 8 cents more than a week ago.

Experts expect that stations’ switch to a cheaper winter fuel blend could bring prices down, but high crude oil prices are weakening that effect.

Prices at nearby stations can be compared in apps and on websites such as AAA or GasBuddy. Differences within a single city can reach several dozen cents per gallon.
