“Usurpers” tried to block President Karol Nawrocki from entering the Constitutional Tribunal and violated his inviolability, presidential spokesman Rafał Leśkiewicz wrote. Maciej Berek, however, argued that the president “physically attacked” the Tribunal’s judges.
Earlier, late Saturday night, Berek posted recordings on the X platform showing President Nawrocki squeezing past people standing in the doorway of the Tribunal building. The footage shows, among others, Constitutional Tribunal judges Krystian Markiewicz and Anna Korwin-Piotrowska, who were elected to the court.
“Maciej Berek has just documented the commission of a crime, as the usurpers tried to prevent the President of Poland from entering the Constitutional Tribunal and violated his inviolability,” Leśkiewicz wrote on X.
According to Berek, however, President Nawrocki “did not enter the Tribunal building” but “physically attacked Tribunal judge A. Korwin-Piotrowska and the other Tribunal judges.” Berek later wrote that Korwin-Piotrowska “offered to meet with the President today, in conditions that are safe and befitting the holders of public offices.” “The President chose the path of physical confrontation with Tribunal Judge A. Korwin-Piotrowska,” he added.
Presidential minister Marcin Przydacz, meanwhile, wrote on X that “Markiewicz and Korwin-Piotrowska tried to grab the President.” “They are violating the inviolability of the Head of State, who came to the Constitutional Tribunal! These are supposed to be judges? They are supposed to ensure respect for the law? These are thugs who use violence,” Przydacz wrote. (PAP)
