Three young men were detained in Ocala, Florida, after attempting a dangerous online challenge on busy State Route 200. One participant cut another’s hair in the middle of the roadway while a third filmed the whole thing. During the challenge, an 18-year-old was struck by a truck and taken to a hospital, the Ocala Police Department said.
According to officers, the men, ages 20, 19 and 18, took a chair from a nearby restaurant and set it up in the road. The youngest participant sat in the chair to get a haircut while his friend began cutting his hair. The third man filmed the “stunt,” which was meant to be part of an online challenge.
At some point, a traffic accident occurred nearby, and as a result a Chevrolet 3500 truck drove into the participants in the “challenge.” Two of the men managed to get out of the vehicle’s path. The 18-year-old sitting in the chair, however, had his back turned to the oncoming truck and was struck. The injured man was taken to a hospital. Police did not disclose information about his injuries.
After the incident, officers detained all three participants. The men were charged in connection with unlawful assembly and unsafe use of public roads, which violates local ordinances.
