New Yorkers are turning out in strong numbers for early voting ahead of the Nov. 3 election. According to preliminary data from the city’s Board of Elections, 224,894 voters checked in at polling sites in the five boroughs over the first three days, from Saturday, Oct. 24, through Monday, Oct. 26.

That is about 76% more than in the first three days of early voting before the 2022 election, when 127,756 people voted. The figure is also marginally higher than before last year’s mayoral election, with 1,626 more votes than in 2025.

Brooklyn (64,556) and Manhattan (63,195) saw the most voters. They are followed by Queens (54,595), the Bronx (23,685) and Staten Island (18,863). Compared with 2025, turnout rose markedly in the Bronx and on Staten Island, while Manhattan and Brooklyn are slightly below last year’s pace.

The most important race of this year’s election is the contest for governor of New York State. Incumbent Gov. Kathy Hochul is seeking reelection, and her main rival is Republican Bruce Blakeman. In her latest ads, Hochul strongly emphasizes her opponent’s ties to Donald Trump.

Early voting runs through Sunday, Nov. 1. Information on polling sites is available at vote.nyc. Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3.
