America took a huge step backward as a result of the recent elections, U.S. President Donald Trump said on Sunday. His party performed poorly in the recent midterm elections to Congress. Trump said his political strength would return stronger and bigger.
“America took a huge step backward in history as a result of the recent elections,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.
He said that even the stock market, which had recorded spectacular gains during his presidency, lost $3 trillion in value in a single day.
“But there is no reason to worry – we will come back bigger and stronger than ever before!” he said.
As a result of the midterm elections, the Republican Party lost control of both chambers of Congress.
The main U.S. stock indexes on Thursday posted their biggest declines since April 2025. In the massive one-day drop, the market value of companies in the S&P 500 index fell by about $2.9 trillion.
The reason was concern that, after the Democrats’ victory in the congressional elections, the artificial intelligence industry would come under stricter oversight.
