A big state lottery prize has been won in Illinois. Illinois Lottery officials said one player hit the FastPlay Ultimate Diamond Jackpot, winning $1,809,642.
It is the second-largest FastPlay win this year and the sixth since the games were introduced in Illinois in 2020. The largest win to date, $3.3 million, came in July. Ultimate Diamond Jackpot is a FastPlay game with a progressive jackpot. A ticket costs $30, and the jackpot starts at $75,000 and grows with every ticket sold across the state until someone wins the top prize. Winners have one year from the date of purchase to claim their prize.
FastPlay games require no number picks, no forms to fill out, no scratching off play areas and no waiting for a drawing of winning numbers. There are currently 39 different games in the FastPlay series. Tickets can be purchased at retail locations, online or through the Illinois Lottery mobile app.
Jackpots are also growing in the two biggest numbers games. Friday’s Mega Millions drawing has a jackpot of $433 million. In Wednesday’s Powerball drawing, no one matched all six numbers again, and Saturday’s jackpot has grown to $674 million. And as early as Thursday, players in Illinois have a shot at $7.1 million in Lotto.
