Seminole County Clerk of Court Website to Return Within Days

The Seminole County Clerk of the Circuit Court’s office said Friday that its website should be fully operational “in the coming days.” The clerk’s office systems were shut down in late October after a cyberattack.

According to the Orlando Sentinel, the attack was detected in late October. The office immediately took down its website and internet access to secure its systems, Maloy of the clerk’s office said. Local media reported that the outage also hit the phone system and that offices were closed to the public. The clerk’s office said at the time that it had found no signs of ransomware or a data breach.

Since then, staff have been rebuilding the systems. Clerks’ offices from other parts of Florida are helping, including with strengthening security and restoring the network.

Until the website is fully back up, official public records such as mortgages, deeds, marriage records and liens are available at the Seminole County courthouse at 101 Eslinger Way in Sanford. Maloy assured the public that all matters handled by the clerk’s office can be taken care of in person.

Some services are already back online. On the clerk’s website, people can pay a traffic ticket or a fine in a criminal case, and view information on tax deed auction sales. More features will be added gradually as the office decides it is safe to do so, Maloy said.

During the outage, the clerk’s office announced extended deadlines and waivers of late penalties tied to the disruption of its systems. Child support payments could be made through Florida PayKidz.
