Moskowitz and Singer Enter Final Stretch in Florida’s CD 25 Race

Democrat Jared Moskowitz and former Boca Raton Mayor Scott Singer agree that Washington needs fixing. They differ on the remedies, however, and the election will be held Tuesday, Nov. 3.

According to Florida Politics, Moskowitz emphasizes insurance relief, protecting health insurance and securing retirement benefits, while Singer focuses on cutting spending and lowering taxes. In his ads, Singer also points out that in Boca Raton he cut the property tax rate (millage) seven times in eight years.

The Republican points to his rival’s legislative record. No bill for which Moskowitz was the lead author has become law. At a forum in Miami Beach, Singer called for change and criticized Moskowitz over, among other things, his stock market gains. Moskowitz responded that Singer is “not running against the party, but against him,” and that he has not moved that far to the left.

Israel is an important issue. Roughly one-quarter of the district’s residents are Jewish, and both candidates declare strong support for Israel. Singer argues that growing hostility toward Israel among some Democrats limits Moskowitz’s effectiveness, while Moskowitz accuses his rival of failing to respond to antisemitism on the right.

The district was reshaped in the new redistricting. It stretches from Palm Beach County to Miami Beach. Moskowitz is seeking a third term. Singer has repeatedly called for a televised debate, and Moskowitz has responded that voters have already had enough contact with the candidates through ads and interviews.

Polls are mixed. Competing party-commissioned polls show Singer leading 49% to 42% and Moskowitz leading 47% to 42%. The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) placed Moskowitz in its Frontline program, and the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) added Singer to its MAGA Majority initiative. Voting takes place Nov. 3.
